Touch
Safety, clarity and joy

Led by Joshua Bisset, assisted by Laura Quattrocchi

This workshop explores touch in the context of dance.  A central goal of the workshop is how to embrace and play with touch while maintaining one’s body integrity, autonomy and clarity.  We will approach touch through the lens of contact improvisation and Aikido, through dialogue and leading/following.  Through simple games and scores we will explore weight sharing, surrender, release, opposition and unity.  We will dance through open scores and games exploring layers of dialogue, play and tension and composition.  This class is reflection of Joshua Bisset’s 20 years of experience in grounding body techniques including Contact Improvisation, Feldenkrise Method, Skinner Releasing, Klein Technique, and Aikido.  He has his touch focused workshops nationally at Andy Arts, Detroit, AVAM, Baltimore and internationally at INDACO, Vento (Italy), at CTR (Venice) at Kultur Kontainer (Bilbao).

Suggested duration is three 3 hours sessions, or two 5 hour sessions.
